お久しぶりです。小島です。
急遽、パートナーたちにF1に誘われ、シンガポールに行って参りました。もちろん仕事での用事だったのですが、初めて見たF1は今まで体験したことのない別世界でした！
エンジンの振動や、ガソリンのにおいなど、お腹の底から響く音に、なんだか不思議な気分になりました。命をかけて競い合う世界には独特の緊張感や高揚感があるのだと思いました。
あわただしいスケジュールでしたが、シンガポールのパートナーたちと一緒に楽しいひとときを過ごす事ができました。

How are you? I have just came back from Singapore. I visited Singapore on business, but our partners arranged seats for F1! This was the first time for me to watch F1, and it was another world for me. I felt something special about sounds of the cars and the smell of gasoline, etc. My schedule in Singapore was tight, but I had a great time with my partners.

先日、奥多摩へトレッキングに行って参りました！実は前夜は、まるで初めての遠足に行くみたいにワクワクしてあまりよく眠れませんでした(笑)。

初めの２キロくらいは、はりきりすぎて、筋力、精神力ともに限界の壁にすぐにぶち当たってしまいました。山に来た事を後悔する気持ちがよぎり、途中でやめられない状況に途方にくれてしまいましたが、休憩で復活することができました。一緒にトレッキングに行ってくれた新人君に荷物を持ってもらいつつ、自分にはトレッキングは向いていないのだと思いましたが、今回の企画をしてくださった先生に歩き方を教えていただいたり休憩を重ねるうちに楽しくなって、どうにか登頂することができました。登りきったときは、助かった！と思いましたが、天気が思わしくなかったため、すぐに下山することになりました。一般的には下る方が大変なようですが、帰れるという気持ちからでしょうか(笑)、私は下りのほうが楽でした。
あれだけつらいと思いながらも、戻って来たときには、ほっとしてまた来たいなと思いました。今回のトレッキングでわかったことは、山はお遊び感覚では行ってはいけないということ、そしてあの終わったときの安堵感、達成感が人を虜にするのだということでした。次はきちんと装備も整えてチャレンジしたいと思います！

I went to Okutama for hiking the other day. I was actually too excited to sleep well the day before the hiking like a kid.
The first couples of miles, I was so excited. But soon, I got tired to death:) I started to regret to come to the mountain, and I had been at a loss about this non-stoppable situation, but I felt better with some break. It was so nice of one of the crew to carry my bag. The teacher who had invited to go hiking showed us how to walk in the mountain. Thanks to them, I could finally climb up the mountain. When I got to the point, I felt " I was relieved!" But since the weather was not so great, we had to go down soon.
In general, it is said that going down is harder than climbing up, but I thought the opposite way, maybe because I felt relieved better and better.
What I've learned from hiking this time is that you have to prepare for certain equipments such as trekking shoes etc. I also learned that the feelings after climbing are so nice that people feel like trekking again. I would love to try again with better equipments!

先週、３日間にわたって新人研修を開催しました。
参加してくれた社員の中には、「この道で生きて行こう！」という子がいます。そういう顔は、とても輝いて見えます。きちんと導いてあげたいなと思います。そうではなく、とりあえず、自分を試すためにやっている社員たちには、レストラン業の楽しさ、良さを教えてあげたいなと思っていますし、それが私の役割なのだと思います。参加してくれた社員は息子、娘の年なので、できるだけ仲良くしたいとも思います。彼らの考えや感覚をきちんと聞いて、レストラン作りに役立てていきたい、、、そんな風に思った一日でした！

We have a training plan for new faces. Some staff have a strong will to spend their lives in restaurant business. I love their faces with brilliant future. I feel like leading them to the right direction. Others have not decided to live in this industory yet, but they want to try restaurant business. I would like to tell them how wonderful restaurant business is, which is one of my roles. The new faces are around the same age of my son and my daughter, and I would like to have good communication with them. By knowing their thoughts and ideas, I would love to make the most of their ideas for developing our restaurants.

コカレストラン、マンゴツリーのバンコク本店のオーナーであるピタヤさんとマネージャーのトレバーさんがひさしぶりに先日来日されました。ルミネ横浜のマンゴツリーカフェ、ニルヴァーナスパイスカフェ、マンゴツリーデリ、マンゴツリー東京、チャイナホワイト、シンガポールシーフードリパブリック、、、、と駆け足で訪問されました。
私たちはタイ料理レストランを経営して何年も経ちます。バンコクのマンゴツリーも、実は日本人のお客様が多くいらっしゃいます。ただし、タイのマンゴツリーと日本のマンゴツリーにも違いがあります。それは、日本には四季があることです。なので、日本では冬には冬、夏には夏の野菜を使った料理が求められます。今回、ピタヤさんと日本では四季に応じたメニューをお客様に楽しんでいただきたいという話をしました。皆様によりおいしい料理を楽しんでいただけるよう、パートナーと相談を重ね、協力しながらがんばってまいりますので、是非お試しくださいね。

Mr. Pitaya, the owner of Coca restaurant and Mango tree in Bangkok and Mr. Trevor, the manager, visited us the other day.
They had not been visiting us here for a long time, and they visited mango tree cafe in Lumine, Nirvana Spice Cafe, mango tree deli, mango tree Tokyo, China White, and Singapore Seafood Republic.
We have had partnership for years for Thai restaurants. Actually many Japanese people enjoy eating at mango tree in Bangkok. But there is difference between mango tree in Thailand and that in Japan. We have four seasons in Japan, and people feel like eating something that gives sense of seasons. I talked about menu which defers depends on seasons with Mr. Pitaya. I will cooperate with him to provide good and seasonable food with our customers. Please try our Thai cuisine this coming winter!
